The New Rochelle Board of Education has moved back the day it will adopt a final 2013-14 budget, scheduling it for April 17.

On Wednesday, the board members had set the meeting for April 16 to allow the administration to rework the numbers after receiving an additional $1.2 million in state aid. But board President Chrisanne Petrone said today that a board member had a conflict on that day, and asked that the session be rescheduled.

So it was pushed back one day, to 7:30 p.m. April 17 in New Rochelle High School, 265 Clove Road.

The board is considering a $238.1 million budget. It would have required cutting 56 positions, including 33 teachers. But the additional aid, coupled with some other savings, will allow them to keep 12 of those teachers, Assistant Superintendent John Quinn said on Wednesday.

A public hearing on the plan is scheduled for May 7. It goes to a public vote May 21.
